Video: Springer surfs a Sunfish in a storm?

Tropical Storm Hanna sure received a lot of attention here in New England last weekend. And ever since I've been about 12 years old, topical storms, or hurricanes, or just plain ol' gales have always fired me up to go out and see if I can kick up a rooster tail or at least keep a dinghy upright in big wind and waves. When I was a kid, this simply drove my parents crazy. And I know some of you out there are guilty of the same offence. But the truth is, I never went too far (something usually broke), I was always in protected water where I'd be safely washed ashore if something went wrong, it was always a small Sunfish or Laser-type boat, and I never went out during the peak of really strong storms. I like heavy weather but I'm not crazy. So the prospect of getting out and sailing in Tropical Storm Hanna sounded dy-no-mite. The timing was just bad. The storm hit Cape Cod on Saturday night and I wasn't really up to getting out there with my headlamp. But, I did get out on Sunday, and I brought the video camera with me. It was hardly storm conditions, but it sure was fun. Check it out.

  1. Great stuff, you've captured the feel of a small boat very nicely. Do you work the stereo with your feet?
